The FMCSA regularly monitors the enforcement of laws that safeguard the safety of transportation and commercial activities. A firm may be required to register for two things: a USDOT number and/or an MC number.
Commercial firms that transport persons or commodities for international trade must register with the FMCSA and get a USDOT number. This also applies to carriers who transport specific quantities and categories of hazardous chemicals inside the state.
The USDOT number is a one-of-a-kind code that may be used to obtain information on drivers and their drug and alcohol tests, as well as corporate security and compliance checks.
